May Sneak Peeks Day 2: Wish Upon a Star
Good morning, crafty friends! Are you ready for another day of exciting sneak peeks? Typically stars are a symbol of our freedom here in the U.S., and you’ll be seeing lots of stars throughout the hop today. You’ll also see that stars aren’t just for the 4th of July! After hopping around to check out the latest from our amazing creative team, I hope you’ll be inspired to use stars for graduations, birthdays, ‘thank you’ for your service, and more.
In keeping with our hero theme yesterday, we’re also debuting two new additions to our On the Road series; a police cruiser and a firetruck! Not only will these be awesome for little boy birthdays, but wouldn’t it also be wonderful to thank a local police or fire person for their heroic sacrifices each and every day with a card featuring on these iconic vehicles. Are you ready? Let’s kick off Day 2 of sneak peeks!

Since I mentioned you’ll be seeing stars today, I might as well start with my project featuring the new Pinhole Star Stacklets and Stroke of Genius – Stars stamp set:
I started by cutting the three star layers from TE 100% wool felt in Red Hot, Blue Jeans, and Marshmallow. I’ll stop right there and say that was the easy part! It’s also worth mentioning that these stars coordinate exactly with layers in our previously released Star Stacklets set so for the largest layer I cut one solid star from Star Stacklets making it easier to stitch to the back of the largest Pinhole Star. I spent the next few hours leisurely stitching the layers together using good old needle and thread and some floss. Even though it was a bit time consuming, I will say that it was totally relaxing! I used the pinholes as a guide for my stitching which made the whole process easier and gave a more professional finished product than my previous attempts at hand stitching.
When I got around to the end of my first star, I discovered that I had no stuffing! So I was forced to dismember one of my daughter’s stuffed bears in order to steal its stuffing. I’m such a bad mom, but it makes for a good crafty memory! I figured they’ve ruined more than one of my projects along the way so my actions were justified! *giggle*
I kept the card pretty simple by stamping the stars in Cherry Pop, Blue Corn, and Salt Water Taffy inks. It needed a little pizazz so I added a star die cut from sparkly silver adhesive sheet and added a few of our Cherry Pop enamel stars. The sentiment is from the new Simply Said – 4th of July set. Here’s a look at the new products I used on these two projects:
The Pinhole Stars also look great cut from cardstock so don’t feel like you have to get out your needle and thread! Check out this adorable card by Jean Manis featuring the My Super Hero Stamp & Die Combo that was sneak peeked yesterday:
Let’s continue with the star theme and our Lucky Stars Stamp & Die Combo! Both Melody and Gayatri show non-patriotic uses of this stamp and die combo in their adorable cards:
Melody’s project uses both the stamp and the coordinating die and includes an adorable pick. Anyone else thinking cupcake!?
Gayatri features a watercolor technique behind the 9-star die cut in her card front. It would be so fun to play with lots of color combinations peeking out from behind the stars!

Up next on the list of today’s sneak peeks is the Wagon Bouquet and coordinating Wagon Bouquet die. If you’re a fan of our bouquet dies then this one will be a must-have for featuring a bounty of summer flowers in an iconic wood wagon. Check out Melody’s gorgeous card:
*Swoon* She’s also featuring the new Grassy Rolling Hills which I’ll tell you more about tomorrow! It’s another must-have staple to add to your wish list!
Here’s a look at the Wagon Bouquet and the coordinating die (sold separately):
Last but not least, we have the two newest additions to our On the Road series; Police Cruiser and Firetruck along with the companion stamp set appropriately named Wee-ooh Wee-ooh!
This card by Jean Manis also features our new Gunny Sack background (more on that tomorrow!) and the Dizzy Dots background shown yesterday. Love how all of this works together!
Kim Singdahlsen made this adorable card using our Potty People in the front of the truck! It makes perfect sense that someone be at the wheel! I also love how she stamped her sentiment in increasingly darker shades of grey which makes you ‘hear’ the sentiment coming from the card as it gets closer and closer.
So that rounds out the new products we have for today’s sneak peeks, but before you head out, I have a prize to give away! Check out my Question of the Day below. Just take a minute to leave a comment with your answer for a chance to win one of our new products before you can buy it!
Today I’m giving away the Pinhole Star Stacklets!
Our friends in uniform are here to keep us safe, but I thought I’d have a little fun today and hear about the last time you were pulled over for a traffic violation (or maybe you’ve never been pulled over!). I’ll go first… the last one I can remember was in college when I was pulled over and got a ticket for not stopping completely at a four-way stop. I’ve never done that again! 🙂
Leave your comment before Wednesday, May 3rd at 11:59pm PST. One entry per person. Each comment will also be entered into our Grand Prize drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Winners will be chosen at random and announced on Thursday, May 4th, 2017.
