August Sneak Peeks Day 3 – Spooky and Sweet
Hey, crafty friends! Welcome to the last day of sneak peeks for our August release! If you’ve been hanging around Taylored Expressions for long (especially here on the TE Blog) then you probably could make a pretty good guess what my favorite holiday is. It’s Halloween! We have SO MANY amazing Halloween products already in our collection and the Creative Team and I had fun mixing and matching previously released products with this year’s new goodies for something a little bit sweet, a little bit spooky, and hopefully very inspiring! Before I get into the sneak peeks for today, here’s what you need to know before you scroll:
- This release includes over 30 new products including stamps, dies, a new Foil It product, and two brand new colors. Everything will be available at the TE webstore on Thursday, August 8th at 9am CST.
- Each day will feature a new how-to tip, technique, or process video from me.
- Get a chance to win it before you can buy it by commenting with your answer to my Question of the Day (located at the bottom of each sneak peek blog post)
- Last, but certainly not least – don’t miss this month’s special offer (details below).
When you order $50 or more August 8th – 11th, 2019, you’ll receive the Build a Scene Halloween 6×6 Paper Pack FREE! This Halloween Paper Pack includes 24 sheets of patterned papers in a variety of sweet and spooky patterns printed to match Taylored Expressions cardstock colors.
Today I have a video showing how I created this very purply card using our new Flip the Web stamp set! I can guarantee this is the only time you’ll ever see me with spiders in my hand… yes, paper spiders! *grin*
I used the Flip the Web stamp set which is an extension of our initial Flip the Floral release with the concept of stamping the image and then flipping your paper 180 degrees within your MISTI in order to achieve an equally spaced opening for the sentiment of your choice. Several sentiments are included which fit great when using the straight spiderweb stamp, but I chose to use the corner web image and pair it with one of the more vertical sentiments in the Handlettered Halloween stamp set.
The blend on my card was inspired by the amazing card that Creative Team member Angelica Conrad created using the straight spiderweb image. It started with Jelly Donut and continued with Eggplant and then finished with the darkest Poppy Seed.
Do you see the hint of sparkle on the sentiment and spiders? I used Versamark with Diamond embossing powder to get that beautiful glossy sparkle!
Next up, I am excited to introduce a new Gatefold Reveal die and the Halloween-themed stamp set designed to fit in the reveal window:
Our first Gatefold Reveal die was released in June and featured a smaller rectangle to reveal a number of sentiments appropriate for your crafty friends. Now we have a second version featuring a larger circle to fit more substantial images and sentiments, but with the same reveal mechanism and ‘wow’ factor when your recipient opens the card!
Melody Rupple used the straight web border from the Flip the Web set as a border on the front of her gatefold card. When you open up the card it reveals the cute spiders from the Sweet & Spooky stamp set inside!
Noriko Fairchild also used the straight web border from the Flip the Web stamp set on the inside flaps of her gatefold card. The Handlettered Halloween sentiment ‘Boo to You’ fits nicely into the new Gatefold Reveal 2 opening. I still can’t get over all of the gorgeous blending that Noriko did on her card! It’s hard to believe that she started with just a plain white card base!
Can zombies be described as cute? If yes, then I think these certainly fit that description! This boy and girl pairing even have a zombie cat to keep them company!
And speaking of beautiful blends, check out the gorgeous background on this card by Angelica Conrad. I love the unusual colors she chose as the backdrop for the zombies and the previously released Bare Trees Background created the perfect scene for these spooky sweeties!
Heather Nichols also used the Bare Trees Background stamp on these cute Halloween tags. She stamped the trees with Oreo ink on Poppy Seed cardstock for a subtle, tone on tone backdrop for the zombies. Plus, check out that new Avocado cardstock – totally works as a spooky Halloween green!
We also have a new addition to the Inky Fingers line up for Halloween! I love using our Inky Fingers stamp sets with my kiddos and while I had to lend my own fingers for the cards below, I hope to get their help creating Halloween treats for their friends and cousins soon!
For the card on the left, I used a blender brush with the Spiderweb Stencil and dangled a few fingerprint spiders from the web. I got all my fingers inky for the card on the right using various shades of orange ink. I added more color to the pumpkins by coloring their stems and leaves with Copic markers and filling in their teeth with a white paint pen.
I shared about the Mini Strips – Harvest stamp set yesterday along with the coordinating Mini Strips die and now I want to show you the Halloween stamp that matches the very same die. Cut out all 10 sentiments in one pass through your die cut machine and then mix and match them or use them individually.
I am sure you noticed the sentiments on several of the Creative Team projects already! I used the Mini Strips – Halloween on the Inky Fingers cards above.
Angelica Conrad stacked several of the Mini Strips – Halloween sentiments together on this pair of Halloween cards. She also stamped her own custom patterned paper using the All Tucked In – Halloween clear stamp set – isn’t it the cutest?
Finally today, we have a few more products that are perfect for Halloween treats and bag tags!
The new Flip the Script – Witch Boot Tag stamp and die combo set is perfect for quick and easy tags! Just stamp the solid boot or the sentiment and die cut it with the coordinating die. You can die cut a hole with the included circle die or use a hole punch to add a place for threading ribbon or twine and tying it on a treat bag like Keia did on this adorable set:
The All Tucked In – Halloween stamp set has been showing up in lots of projects for this August release. Angelica used the tiny images to create her own patterned paper, but you can also use these cute little images to create Halloween themed favor boxes like Gayatri did below:
That’s all I’ve got for new products! I hope you’ve seen something that has inspired you over the last few days. Everything will be available starting tomorrow morning at 9am CST, but before then I have one more chance for you to win it before you can buy it with my Question of the Day!
The question of the day is: Do you carve pumpkins for Halloween? I don’t remember carving pumpkins as a kid and it’s not typically something we do with our kids, but I do always set un-carved pumpkins out on the stoop! To carve or not to carve – that is the question!
Today I’m giving away the Flip the Web stamp set!
Leave your comment before Wednesday, August 7th at 8PM CST. One comment per person. Each comment will also be entered into our Grand Prize drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Winners are chosen at random and announced on the TE blog on Thursday, August 8th.
Check out the spooky and sweet projects from the rest of the Taylored Expressions Creative Team! I can guarantee you’re in for a treat – and a few tricks too!
