Hey, crafty friends! What did you think of all of the wonderful new products that made their debut for the August release? Did you have a stand out favorite? One of my favorite themes from the release is all of the new farmhouse style products. The farmhouse style is such a trend right now (thank you, Joanna Gaines!) and I am loving every bit of it.

I took the new Layer It – Rustic Floral die collection and created some custom patterned papers using liquid watercolors to use the dies with. Watch the video below to see how I created the papers and how this card came together:

Using the liquid watercolors to create custom patterned papers for your projects is all about play. I spent lots of time mixing, layering, and spattering different colors of the liquid watercolor onto watercolor cardstock to get different shades of color and the rustic look that I wanted to use with the flowers.

The results after I die cut the floral elements and then assembled together the finished flowers? Just gorgeous! I also grabbed the Layer It – Daisy die collection to add into my floral arrangement. It complements the Layer It – Rustic Floral flowers wonderfully. The color washed papers with the splotches and speckles are just perfect for this farmhouse look.

The background of the card is stamped with the new Shiplap Background stamp with Toffee ink on Sugar Cube cardstock. It is the perfect backdrop for this rustic flower arrangement. I predict that you’ll see this background again and again on projects! I finished off this card with a sentiment from the new Handlettered Sentiments stamp set and added a bit of sparkle with a few sequins.
