Hey, crafty friends! It’s an exciting (and long-awaited) day at Taylored Expressions! After over 8 months of concepting, tweaking, perfecting, tweaking some more, and manufacturing I’m so excited to introduce you to our new Simple Storage collection! I am incredibly proud of all of the ingenious ideas and hard work that went into making this collection a reality – and you can bet I didn’t do it alone! I thought you might find it interesting to get an inside look at how an idea for a new product becomes a reality.

Typically, we set out to solve a problem with our product development. As our Simple Strips collection continued to grow we heard from many of you about the struggles you were having finding a way to store your Simple Strips. So we set out to solve this problem with the hope of creating a storage solution for our Simple Strips sentiments.

Jami Sibley is one of the product developers who work with me behind the scenes in designing many of our products. In one of our conversations, I floated the idea of a storage solution for Simple Strips. Simultaneously, we were also discussing a tote that would store blender brushes for easy travel. I told her about a couple ideas that I had and we left the conversation saying we’d do some more thinking and talk more down the road.

‘Down the road’ happened the next day when Jami sent me a video of an idea she roughly mocked up with cardstock, creating slots for the Simple Strips and a case for them to fit in! And she had also figured out how the same case could hold the perfect number of blender brushes for easy travel. Genius!

I did my own mockups based on her original, sent them off to our manufacturing partners, and before we knew it we were discussing the specs for the coordinating tote to hold the storage cases and we started receiving the first prototypes.

It seems like there’s always at least one time during the process where the words “Should we just scrap it?” cross my lips. We definitely had our ups and downs throughout the process and went through several prototypes, but in the end, we always persevere to bring you the best product we possibly can!

Let’s take a closer look at the products in the Simple Storage Collection:

The Simple Storage Collection starts with these durable, clear plastic cases with latching lids. The cases hold 15 of our mini ink pads or 5 of our Blender Brushes. The cases will keep your crafty supplies organized and ready to grab when you need them!

You can fill the Simple Storage cases with up to 14 Copic markers.

Or tuck away other crafty supplies like an acrylic block, scissors, adhesive, tweezers, waterbrush, and more for a quick little case of essentials for crafting on the go.

Next up is what we have all been waiting for: Simple Storage for Simple Strips! Simple Storage for Simple Strips includes one of the Simple Storage cases that is fitted with molded plastic tray inserts that nest together to give you compartments to house up to 19 Simple Strips sentiments in one case.

Now you can organize all of those sentiments by stamp set or occasion so they’ll be quick and easy to find exactly what you need for your next project.

You can also purchase the Simple Storage for Simple Strips Labels: a set of pre-printed labels with the names of all of our Simple Strips stamps sized perfectly to adhere to the side of each storage cases so you can find the strips you’re looking for at a glance.

Next up is the Tag Along Tote! The Tag Along Tote is a fabric, zippered tote with clear vinyl sides that perfectly holds two Simple Storage cases (included with the tote) and makes it super convenient to carry your crafty stash. 

When opened up the tote lies flat so you have easy access to your supplies.
