Heartfelt Thanks
It had been quite a while since I pulled my Heartfelt Thanks set off the shelf so here we go. This card started out as a Fabriano notecard with a different image and I smeared it. Grrrr! So I cut the notecard in half, flipped it over, and started anew. It sure is a good thing that there are two sides to every piece of paper! For those who haven’t tried Fabriano notecards, it is the most wonderful paper to watercolor on! And I love the elegant look of the textured edges! It doesn’t get much better IMO. The colors are Not Quite Navy and So Saffron. The card base is stamped with Houndstooth. I stamped the flowers directly onto the Fabriano cardstock, cut out and popped up a few of the flowers for added dimension. I got the darker spots to appear by smearing the ink around while I was applying stardust Stickles. The background is watercolored with Barely Banana and So Saffron watercolor crayons. I then spritzed the background with my new color spritzer. This was my first time using it and it was a bit of a trial and error thing for me. Unfortunately more error than trial… LOL! I had originally stamped the words Heartfelt Thanks directly onto the Fabriano notecard, but the spritzing got away from me and it was too hard to read the words. I wasn’t about to throw it away and start over so I decided to overlay it with vellum to tone down all the spritzing. I lined up the sentiment a tad askew because I liked the double look. Not too much to be confusing, but enough so you could tell it was a two layered sentiment. Then I hand-stitched the vellum to the cardstock with floss…. that part was really tough, especially since I didn’t have a needle in the house! *Mental note: buy needles!* I adhered the whole piece to So Saffron and distressed the edges with my Tonic Paper Distresser that I mentioned yesterday. I added the stitching, ribbon, and rhinestone as the finishing touches. Thanks for looking!
P.S. For those who have been reading my blog for a while, you might remember a while back when I told you I was starting to teach classes at a local scrapbook store. Well, the day has arrived! Tonight is my first class and I have a mixture of nerves and excitement. We will be doing a lunch box tin with organizer inserts and three matching cards. I hope tonight will be a success and generate more interest for future card classes! Wish me luck! 🙂
