Warm Winter Wishes
This card was inspired by an adorable project that I got to make at the SoCal Mini Mania shoebox swap. Jami prepared what she called Winter Water for her shoebox swap project. It was a bottle of water covered with stamped cardstock and a pouch holding a Crystal Light packet to fit over the top of the bottle. Her sample was done in these colors and stamps and I was inspired to make a matching card. You can check out her Winter Water here! The colors are Cool Caribbean, Regal Rose, and Certainly Celery. The stamps are a combination of the Snowflakes set and the Snow Flurries set. I stamped the focal image first, mounted it on Regal Rose, and cut around it with scallop scissors. This layer is pierced and outlined with white gel pen. Then I adhered this to the Cool Caribbean card base (5″ square) and used DTP with white craft ink around the card base. I love the look of DTP with craft ink! Then I stamped and cut out the sentiment in the same fashion. The sentiment is adhered to the card front with dimensionals. I tied ribbons in Certainly Celery and Regal Rose around the top of the card, added a metal edge tag and a snowflake charm and it’s done! I thought this would be perfect for our Christmas card this year since we live in a warm winter climate and the colors reflect that. I don’t know if Jon will go for something this non-traditional though. When I showed him the card after I finished it, his exact words were “I like the card, just not the colors.” LOL! So I guess that means this won’t be our Christmas card, but it was worth a shot! 🙂 Thanks for looking!
