Skitters & Morris!!
We have finally decided on names for our two cats! The orange tabby is Skitters (to match his skittish personality) and the fat black cat is Morris (we think it suits him well)! A big thank you to Mary Anne for naming Skitters and Flossie’s Follies for naming Morris! Email me (tayloredexpressions@gmail.com) with your snail mail address and I’ll get a little thank you gift out to you right away! I really appreciate all the other kitty cat suggestions as well! Thank you to Kristy Vernon for suggesting a laser pointer! We purchased one at Target and Skitters has so much fun chasing it around. He’ll even jump halfway up the wall to get it! Morris just kinda stares at it with a look like “So what?” LOL! We haven’t gotten him to move an inch for it yet, but I have a feeling that
exercise isn’t his thing. And thank you to Wanda and Anne Sanborn for your advice on calming Skitters down. He doesn’t cry during the night anymore and we can finally get some rest! Now on to the projects I worked on last night! Have you seen the adorable heart tins that PaperTrey is carrying!? They have a large heart tin with a clear lid and a smaller heart tin with a solid lid. I thought the larger heart tin would be a fun way to package lingerie as a shower gift, Valentine’s Day gift, or anniversary gift. Check out Debbie Olson’s tutorial for an easy way to cover the lid. She’s a genius! I covered the bottom part of the tin with cardstock and wrapped Stampendous Class A’Peels heart chain around the bottom. Then I tied some May Arts polka dot ribbon
around the tin and added a Happy Anniversary tag. The sentiment is from PaperTrey’s new Mixed Messages stamp set. The patterned paper I used on the lid is KI Memories. The small heart tin would make a great Valentine’s gift for friends or even a wedding favor! M&M’s can be ordered in any color combination with any letters/words printed on them. I can see M&M’s in coordinating wedding colors with the bride and grooms initials printed on them. Or a tin filled with small mints and a tag that says “mint to be together”. Or even a little bag of coffee inside with a tag that says “the perfect blend”. So many possibilities! I covered the tin with KI Memories patterned paper and red grosgrain ribbon around the outside of the tin’s lid. I stamped a heart border from PaperTrey’s Borders & Corners Hearts set and punched it out with the Marvy Super Jumbo Scalloped Heart punch. Then I sponged around the heart with VersaMagic Midnight Black ink. The sentiment
is from PaperTrey’s Faux Ribbon set and stamped in Real Red ink. I used an Xacto knife to cut two slits in the heart tag. Then I ran the ribbon around the tin and through the slits to tie the bow at the top. I also wanted to share with you my first idea for these little tins so you don’t make the same mistake I did! I thought it would be so perfect to melt candle wax inside the small heart tin and add a wick. So I got out all my candlemaking stuff, put wax inside the tin, and stuck it in the oven to melt. Luckily I had put the tin on top of a cookie sheet (lesson learned from previous spilled wax!) because when I came back after several minutes I discovered all the wax had leaked out the bottom of the tin and onto the cookie sheet. So my piece of advice is don’t try to melt candle wax inside these tins! They are perfect for everything else though! Thanks for sticking with me through the novel I wrote today! 🙂 I hope you all have a wonderful day! Stay tuned tomorrow for some cupcakes and a challenge!
