A Week of Share Joy Inspiration – Washi Challenge
Hey there! Are you ready to get crafty with another Share Joy birthday challenge? If you haven’t heard about our Share Joy Campaign, you can read all about it here. We’re excited to be partnering with all of you to collect handmade cards for donation to charitable organizations. Several times each year we carefully select charities to work with and this week we’re launching our collection of birthday cards for homeless charities throughout the United States.
To continue with our 5th birthday bash and give you a jump start on birthday cards, we’re issuing a new challenge each day this week. Today, the fabulous Shelly Mercado has issued us a washi tape challenge:
I’m a washi tape collection, how about you!? I love it, but it’s often a forgotten embellishment in my craft room. With such an amazing array of patterns, colors, and sizes to choose from, washi tape is great for backgrounds, accents, and more. So your challenge for today is to use washi tape to create a birthday card. Here’s what I came up with (and after I finished my card I realized I used the same color combination from yesterday’s challenge!):
I started by simply adding strips of washi tape to a Snow White cardstock base. Then I stamped the sentiment from Big Bold Birthday and cut it out with Label Stacklets 2. I airbrushed with yellow Copic inside the die line and then adhered the sentiment panel with foam squares. My new favorite embellishment are the sprinkles from Doodlebug and I added the different colors on the top and bottom of the washi tape seam. I’ve been known to recycle images. What’s that mean? Yesterday I used the party hat from the Candy Monster set on my card and so naturally the stamp was still on a block (un-cleaned) in the middle of my table and as I put the finishing touches on this card the hat just seemed to fit so I used it again!
Here are the supplies that I used from the TE Store:
Our talented Baker’s Dozen and friends are back today with inspiration for the washi tape challenge! Check ’em out below and link up your own project too if you decide to get crafty! I’d love to see it!
