Every year when November rolls around I start to think about my hand-made Christmas gifts, tags, and packaging. So naturally as I considered these things I came up with several unique products to help us all create fabulous gifts and gift packaging for the upcoming holiday season!
I’m really excited about all the possibilities for our Small Packages stamp set, Tin Topper & On Display Tin Insert dies! I have lots of people on my list that receive gift cards… our mail carriers, preschool teachers, daycare provider, and often the older nieces and nephews that would prefer to pick out their own gift. If I’m going to give a gift card I like to package it in a really special way and so these products were born out my wish to have a quick and fun way to decorate a hinged tin to hold a gift card (or other small gift). Here are my sneak peeks:
I designed my first hinged tin to hold a gift card to Dunkin’ Donuts! I used the Tin Topper die for the top of the hinged tin and the Small Packages stamp set for the sentiment.
Aren’t the milk bottle and donut so cute? I cut the milk bottle from vellum for the frosted look. After cutting out the ‘frosting’ for the donut I inked it with Versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder for that shiny, frosting look.
Here you can see the gift card inside my decorated tin. I used the previously released Gift Card Frame to cut the red polka dot pattern for the inside lid of the tin. It fits perfectly!
I’ve always loved giving gift cards in these tins, but it always kind of bugged me how the gift card just sat in the bottom of the tin. It’s all about the presentation, and this never seemed very finished to me! The On Display Tin Insert die was designed to solve this presentation issue as it create a lovely little platform to display the gift card! Love it!
In addition to displaying a gift card, we’ve added two other unique dies to the On Display die set that make it fun and easy to give the gift of jewelry during the holidays. Let me show you what I mean…
Here’s the front of my next decorated hinged tin. Again, I used the Tin Topper die and a sentiment from the Small Packages stamp set. I embellished the side of the tin with flags from Banner Stacklets 1 and flowers cut using the Friendship Blooms die set.
As I mentioned above, we’ve included two extra dies in the On Display set to make giving the gift of jewelry really cute! After first cutting the tin insert from patterned paper, I placed the long ‘v’ looking die over the patterned paper and ran it through my die cut machine again. Just slip the chain of your necklace into the slits and use a little tape to secure it on the back.
In the above photo you can see how the tin insert folds up create the display tent for the inside of the tin. Just insert it with the small flap toward the front of the tin and snap the lid into place.
And last, but not least, I designed this hinged tin to hold a pair of earrings (see below). I used a sentiment from Small Packages, a 3D bow from Mini Mix & Match bows, and Little Bits Holly.
The Merry & Bright circle is from our new Punchables – Christmas product! These pre-printed circles were designed to be punched with a standard 1.5″ circle punch and printed to match our Gingerbread Lane collection. They were designed to work beautifully with the Pockets & Pages Medallion Showcase die for your December Daily scrapbooking, but they’re so versatile and will work great for cards, tags, and gift packaging too!
Here’s a look at how a pair of earrings display inside the hinged tin with the help of the On Display Tin Insert dies.
I hope you’re feeling inspired to create some fabulous gift packaging using our hinged tin and other complementary products!
I have one more project to share today using our latest Pockets & Pages products for pocket scrapbooking. This one is near and dear to my heart as it features my sweet Charlotte:
I used the Pockets & Pages – 3×4 Medallion Showcase with Ho Ho Ho from the Punchables set and the Little Bits Present die in the top right pocket. I kept the left pocket pretty simple with just a photo layered with the help of our P&P 3×4 Essentials die set.
For the bottom photo I added a sentiment from the Small Packages stamp set and a tiny flag with her name and date of the photo. I can’t believe she’s already a year old because this seems like yesterday! I’m really looking forward to doing more December Daily scrapbooking using these new products, but December needs to get here first! If you’re a December Daily scrapper, now’s the time to start planning this year’s book!
The rest of our super talented Baker’s Dozen design team has lots of inspiration to share so make sure you stop by their blogs to see what they’ve been up to using our latest new products! And we’ll be back tomorrow with even more inspiration!
