Blog Design Team: Bee Mine, Valentine!
Happy Tuesday! Much of the TE team is still in sunny (okay, it rained a lot over the weekend!) Anaheim, CA for the Craft & Hobby Association Mega Show, but we didn’t want you to miss one minutes of inspiration! Today, Amy Kolling is sharing a very cool idea on how to create a shaped pattern background using our Cutting Plates!
Amy’s Notes: One of the new Little Bits dies I own, Bumble Bee, was just too cute not to be put to
use this month!
Amy’s Notes: I started out die-cutting the Hexagon Cutting Plate
with red cardstock because I wanted all those mini hexagon pieces.
After die-cutting a large standard heart from vellum, I made an “impression” of the Hexagon Cutting Plate by using an embossing pad (rather than die-cutting) — this served as my template and made it much easier to place the red hexagons. (You can find Embossing pads HERE.)
Amy’s Notes: I began
to piece in the red hexagons. Once done, some of the hexagons needed
trimming to form the heart shape again. The heart piece was adhered to a
white top-folding card. (Hint: apply adhesive to areas behind the red hexagons to ‘hide’ it from showing through the vellum.)
Amy’s Notes: Now comes those adorable bumble bees! I die-cut three bumble bees from black and yellow cardstock, pieced
them together, and adhered with foam adhesive. Lastly, a sentiment from
Punny Love…..”bee mine”….was perfect to heat emboss in white on black
cardstock to finish off the card.
Thanks so much, Amy, for showing off such a fun way to use our Cutting Plates! You can catch more of Amy’s design work on her blog, Stamp-n-Paradise. Enjoy the rest of your week!
