Taylor’s Expressions: Eyes for You
Hey there, crafty friends! Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching so I wanted to sneak in one more card before it passes. Although do we really need a special day to say “I love you”? I’ve made quite a few lovey cards and I’m planning to stash a few away for ‘just because’.
As I mentioned during our release last week, I’ve been enamored with shaker cards for the last several months. Perhaps it’s the addition of sequins to our product mix or the Little Bits – Confetti options, but I find myself wanting to make everything a shaker! A recent discussion in the office sparked the idea for this card… yes, another shaker!
I started by creating the shaker element. Because it would be hard to stack up foam tape around the thin edges of the spectacles, I tried a different shaker method where you cut multiple of the same die and stack them together to create the dimension needed for a shaker. Below you can see the stack of die cuts that I glued together:
I put transparency behind the top glasses die cut and then glued the other die cuts behind (about 10 of them in total to create the depth I wanted). I added sequins, XOXO, and hearts from the Little Bits – Love Confetti inside each eyeglass. Then I glued the glasses to white cardstock and trimmed closely around them so that you can’t see the white paper.
