Blog Design Team: Watercolor At the Cross
It’s the last day of March! Today the very talented Lea Lawson is reminding us of the true meaning of Easter with an elegant and lovely card. Read on for all the details…
And now, here’s Lea to tell us about her project…
Easter is almost upon us, and I find myself reflecting on the true
meaning of this day all throughout the month of March. I wanted to
create a card fit for a king, so I pulled out my gold mist and
embossing powder as a starting point. I paired these (and a couple
other items) with the Graphic Greetings Redeemer stamp and the At The
Cross 1 die.To create the background, I lightly brushed a
block of watercolor paper with clean water. Then I opened two bottles
of mist, one in gold and the other in mint. I randomly added drops of
each mist to the paper, then swirled them together. I let it dry a
little, then added a bit more of the gold mist so it would shimmer a bit
more.
Once it was completely dry and flattened, I stamped the
sentiment to the middle of it using embossing ink. Then I covered it
in gold glitter embossing powder and heat set it. (Tip: It is really
important that you let the watercolor completely dry before doing this,
and it doesn’t hurt to brush a powder tool over it before stamping. It
will make removing the excess embossing powder much easier!)I
adhered the entire watercolor and stamped panel to a matching
cardbase using foam tape. After cutting the At The Cross 1 die from
vellum, I adhered it over the top of the embossed sentiment. I finished the
card by adding a jewel to the middle of the cross, hiding the bit of
adhesive that was used.As we draw near to the day of Easter, I
hope you will reflect on it’s true meaning and create some cards from
Taylored Expressions products you have in your own stash! Have a great
day!
